Long lifecycles for packaging & cartons

Some of our customers may already have noticed: since the founding of Kasumiya – Japanese Craftsmanship, we have occasionally been using well-preserved, undamaged boxes and packing materials from our suppliers for our shipments.

This may look unprofessional at first glance, but there is a very good reason for it:

On the one hand, the paper market – which includes the cardboard sector – collapsed drastically during the coronavirus crisis. In other words, there simply were not enough boxes available. On the other hand, reusing – flawless – shipping cartons saves enormous amounts of water and the wood (cellulose) needed by the paper industry.

In doing so, we aim to reduce our environmental impact and conserve energy and resources.

So please don’t be surprised if your order from us arrives in a box with Japanese writing on it.

We would be delighted if you, as our customer, support us in this approach.

arigatou gozaimasu – thank you very much.
